Written by Dr. George Rivera and illustrated by Tony Ortega are part of a series that recounts the adventures of a Chicano boy, Pano, and his two dogs, Cholo and Vato. Their adventures include a Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico and a summer in a northern New Mexican village. Their experiences are described in Spanish and English with colorful and lively illustrations by Ortega. Their adventures give students glimpses of Chicano culture and convey an appreciation through open discussions about tradition, identity, and childhood discovery.

"Cholo in the Clouds with Sky, Memory Adventures with Cholo, Vato and Pano " This book illustrates the loss of a family friend (dog) and the memory of wonderful times they shared.
"Cinco de Mayo: Patriotic Adventures of Cholo, Vato and Pano", This book illustrates the story about Cinco de Mayo as Cholo, Vato and Pano travel back in time.
